City of Jackson offers Christmas tree recycling with ‘Chipping of the Green’
JACKSON, Tenn. — If you have a traditional live Christmas tree this year, you don’t have to kick it to the curb after the holiday. You can recycle it.
The city of Jackson will begin collecting trees for its annual Chipping of the Green project on Saturday at north and south locations.
The north location is in the parking lot of Petco on Stonebrook Place. The south location is at the city’s fire training center at 720 South Highland Avenue.
You can drop them off until Jan. 7.
“It’s good to instead of putting them in the landfill to do it with the Chipping of the Green,” said Jodi Jacobs with Keep Jackson Beautiful. “It gets recycled, people get the wood chips and we give these away free.”
The wood chips can be picked up between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9.
