Crime mapping website launched for Morristown
MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) – The city of Morristown is giving the public easier access to crime data around the area.
The Morristown Police Department announced Monday that they have launched a website, www.mymorristown.com, to see where and when recent crimes occurred.
The MPD says in a Facebook post that crime data will be available on a rolling 180 day dataset and will be searchable by date, crime type and address. Residents may also register for email notification for crimes occurring near their home or business. There is no cost to residents for the use of the site.
The post says the MPD hopes that by providing the ability for individuals to have access to crime data, community awareness and proactive preventative measures can be taken to reduce crime in the city.
