Homeowners work toward recovery in trail of Denmark storms
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Recovery efforts continued Tuesday in the Denmark community, and damage surveyors estimate the destruction done to one home could reach nearly $600,000.
Now that the rest of his family’s belongings are packed up, homeowner Harvey Welden says the next step comes in deciding whether to rebuild or move into a new home.
Welden also said the timing of last week’s destruction still couldn’t impact his family’s Christmas.
“When I say that we had a wonderful Christmas, we had our family together, we were safe and the lord gave us Peace like it’s no way to describe,” Welden said. “And you know everything is gone — it is — but the fact is we know he’s in control and he’s going to take care of this.”
Since the storms hit last Wednesday, Welden also said he’s been overwhelmed by support, receiving donations from Louisiana and as far away as the U.K.
