Milan mayor-elect announces first act as mayor

MILAN, Tenn.-A change is coming to the city of Milan this week as mayor-elect B.W. Beasley will be sworn into office and he is already announcing his first act as mayor.

Beasley said on his first day in office, which is Monday, he will make the trip into the office on his own two feet, walking all three and half miles from his home to Milan City Hall.

He said he hopes others will join him along the way, to start a conversation about Milan’s future.

“More than anything else, it is a statement to listening to the people and also promoting health and wellness in our community,” said  Beasley.

Beasley will officially be sworn in during a private ceremony at city hall Friday.
