Jackson councilman hosts free Youth Empowerment Concert

JACKSON, Tenn. — Youth in the Hub City will have a place to go Thursday night for a free concert hosted by one of the city’s councilmen.

pic-concert.jpgDistrict two representative Johnny Dodd is hosting a free concert for kids in Jackson Thursday night at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

TheYouth Empowerment Concert is free and will take place from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Carl Perkins Civic Center near downtown Jackson.

The concert will feature Vonda Peet, Lathan Warlick, Pastor Mychal Hunt, local youth choirs and more local performers. Organizers say their goal is to bring more good to the youth of the city.

“We just want to bring in some kids to show them that it’s some positive things going on in our community, give the kids an opportunity to interact with each other to see positive young men doing positive things in the community,” Dodd said.

The event is sponsored by the city of Jackson, Pastor Mychal Hunt and Radical Nation, the Jackson Police Department and Reggi’s BBQ.
