Ida Bernadine Leach Kight

Mf KightIda Bernadine Leach Kight, age 72, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of Johnny J. Kight, departed this life Wednesday evening, February 8, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Ida was born July 31, 1950 in Union, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Amos L. Leach and Elma Wilkerson Leach. She graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1968 and Holmes Junior College in 1970. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse for many years and was married on August 4, 1966 to Johnny J. Kight.

Mrs. Kight was a member of Mercy’s Bridge Church near Somerville. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

Mrs. Kight is survived by her husband of 56 years, Johnny J. Kight of Somerville, TN; two sons, John J. Kight (Zac) of Beaumont, TX and Steven R. Kight (Patricia) of Somerville, TN; two brothers, Jerrel Leach of Plainview, AR and Jerry W. Leach of Yazoo City, MS; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Maxwell (Garrett), Shelby Kight, Katlynn Thompson and Logan Kight (Emily); seven great-grandchildren, Avery Stanley, Grayson Stanley, Brett Marshall Massey, Skylar Bea Kight, Camilla Maxwell, Remington Lewis and Brady Parsons; and one honorary great-granddaughter, Mallory Milhorn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.

A visitation for Mrs. Kight will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. The officiating ministers will be Bro. John Ed Watkins and Bro. Kevin Treadway. Interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Somerville.
