Police: Suspect arrested in shooting death of Columbus man
COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) – Authorities say a person has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Columbus man on Sunday.
Local media outlets report that the Columbus police arrested 24-year-old Leronn Klayshay Gregory on Monday. According to Interim Police Chief Fred Shelton, Gregory has been charged with murder in the death of 25-year-old Brandon Michael Gordon.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says Gordon died of at least one gunshot wound. Authorities say Gordon was found in the backyard of a home. Merchant says Gordon was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy will be conducted. The investigation remains ongoing.
Gregory is being held on bond. It isn’t immediately clear whether Gregory has an attorney.
