Blue Strong event is tonight at civic center

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Law enforcement and residents from across the area are gathering in downtown Jackson for Thursday night’s Blue Strong event.
The Blue Strong event starts at 6 p.m. and will take place at the Carl Perkins Civic Center is meant to honor local law enforcement.

Officers from across the area will joins hands with residents in a prayer circle to kick things off.

Thursday is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and to commemorate it, citizens from across West Tennessee are expected to come out to the civic center to salute their local officers.

This is the second year of the Blue Strong event, which was started by Jackson resident Ann Luther in an effort to do something positive to support law enforcement in the face of restlessness across the nation.
