Lower gas prices expected for 2016

JACKSON, Tenn. — Motorists are being rewarded at the pump this year. It’s estimated they will spend $17 billion less on gas compared to 2015.

Gas pricesFor a fourth straight year, the price per gallon has dropped to $2.28, according to GasBuddy’s 2016 fuel price outlook.

The reason is low crude oil prices and ample supplies.

“It costs $15 to fill up where it did cost whenever I first started about $27, $30,” motorist Andrew Adams said.

GasBuddy says the lowest price in Jackson is at $1.67 at Walmart South, Mobil and Raceway stores, all located on South Highland Avenue.
