Powerball lotto reaches historic jackpot

CLIFTON, Tenn. — You have just more than 24-hours to ensure you have a chance at winning the largest lottery jackpot in history.

After no winner on Wednesday, the Powerball jackpot surges to at least $800 million for Saturday’s drawing.

In Clifton, the Country Girl Truck Stop manager says people have been buying lottery tickets all week, and he expects more.

“Oh yeah, we’ll have them lined outside the door I’m sure,” said Tony Burdete, the store’s manager. “Wednesday night, we had them lined up just for the lottery.”

The lottery has some expected, especially those who weren’t expecting such a historic payout.

Although some didn’t know the jackpot went higher, folks do know how they would spend the money.

“I’d go on a vacation,” Sarah Burton said. “I would travel. I would definitely shop. It would be just crazy to win all that.”

The estimated cash value of the Saturday jackpot is $496 million.
