Jackson to welcome home Chiefs’ Trey Smith after Super Bowl win
JACKSON, Tenn. — A Super Bowl champion is coming home to the Hub City.
Trey Smith will be welcomed home by the City of Jackson and Mayor Scott Conger at a special event on Friday, March 3. This follows Smith’s Super Bowl LVII win with the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Words can’t express how excited I am to come home and celebrate the Super Bowl LVII win with my Jackson, Tennessee Family! I would like to thank Mayor Conger, the University School of Jackson, and the City of Jackson for always supporting me as both a person and a National Football League Player,” said Smith. “It’s always an honor and a privilege to represent the city I call home and love. May this Super Bowl LVII win be yet another of many for us to celebrate! I look forward to speaking during the celebration at City Hall.”
Smith is a 2017 graduate of the University School of Jackson who was a 5-star recruit and ranked #1 by ESPN. While at USJ, Smith received the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Lineman of the Year for Division II-A in 2015 and 2016.
“USJ is so proud of Trey, and we are honored to be included in celebrating his successes,” said Don Roe, Headmaster of University School of Jackson. “He is not only a lifelong member of our Bruin family but embodies the principles of excellence and integrity for which our mission stands. Congratulations!”
Smith is also a former football player at UT Knoxville, where he played all four years and received numerous awards.
“We are excited to welcome Trey back home to Jackson, TN as our city’s newest Super Bowl Champion. He continues to have an amazing career in football,” said Mayor Scott Conger. “He is an inspiration to many in our city including students in our local public and private schools. We look forward to honoring and hearing from him this Friday at City Hall.”
A press releases states Smith joins Ed “Too Tall” Jones (SB-XII, Cowboys), Trey Teague (SB-XXXIII, Broncos), and Jabari Greer (SB-XLIV, Saints) as NFL players from Jackson to have won Super Bowl Championships.
“Trey Day” will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, located at 400 South Highland Avenue.
