Jackson police investigate Monday night shooting
Details are limited after a male is seriously injuried after shooting
JACKSON, Tenn. — Neighbors on North Fairgrounds and Hatton streets say gunfire and police sirens woke them up around 11 p.m. Monday.
The Jackson Police Department says there was at least one male shot. The victim was taken in a personal vehicle to the emergency room with serious injuries.
Residents declined to talk on camera, but off camera they said they don’t want to see a violent culture take over and change their neighborhood.
People in the area are upset. One neighbor had no idea there was a shooting last night and was almost brought to tears when she heard what happened.
At this time police don’t have any information about the suspected shooter. Their investigation is ongoing.
It is not yet known whether the victim lived in the area. The victim’s condition also is not known at this time.
Police have not said whether they believe this was a random act.
