Moss Point to break ground on new police station

MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) – The city of Moss Point will break ground on a new police station.

The Mississippi Press reports the two-story facility will sit near the main fire station on Bellview Avenue in Moss Point. It will include administrative offices, court rooms, meeting space and an evidence room. It will also include holding cells for male and female violators waiting to be transported to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.

Cathy Keeton, the city’s Director of Community Development, says Friday’s event will be open to the public.

Orocon Construction, LLC will build the $4 million facility. City officials expect the building to be completed by Jan. 2017.
