Deputies search for man who reportedly posed as officer, robbed woman during fake traffic stop

DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — A man posing as a law enforcement officer in Dyer County reportedly assaulted and robbed a woman Friday morning after pulling over her vehicle in Trimble.

police35.jpgThe man was driving a white car with a blue light on the dash board and was wearing a badge around his neck, according to a release from the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman told deputies the man pulled her over near the Trimble exit as she was driving from Obion County into Dyer County.

As the woman was getting her driver’s license, the man reportedly told her he didn’t want it but wanted money instead.

The man then struck the woman in the face and took $12 and a ring from her purse, according to the sheriff’s office.

The man is described as a white male with sandy hair.
