Semi crashes, spills 40,000 pounds of dog food

PINSON, Tenn. — Crews spent much of the night cleaning up piles and piles of dog food along Hwy 45 South in Pinson.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a trucker hauling 40,000 pounds of dog food crashed around 9:30 p.m., Monday, spilling his load.

The driver told troopers, when another car tried to cut him off, he swerved and his load shifted.  He overturned into a ditch, hitting a telephone pole in the process.  Troopers said the pole sheered the top of the trailer off.

The single-vehicle wreck happened right across from South Elementary School.

The driver was no injured.
