Snow to Continue Through Friday
Weather Update – 8:00 a.m. Friday
Snow showers will continue off and on across much of West Tennessee through the morning and into parts of the afternoon, depending on where in West Tennessee you area. Farther to the west, some areas may stop seeing significant snowfall by the early hours of the afternoon, but near the Tennessee River it may not stop until later tonight.
So far there have been significant accumulations over parts of West Tennessee north of I-40. But besides the snow, the wind gusts between 20 and 30 miles per hour have been fierce, driving temperatures to feel like they’re in the teens and 20s. Multiple wrecks have been reported this morning, so stay off the roads if you can but if you absolutely have to go out, take it slow on the roads.
Temperatures will just barely get above freezing with some sunshine starting the melting process. However, with temperatures dropping below freezing we could see black ice reform on Saturday night. More melting will take place on Sunday afternoon with temperatures closer to the 40s.
