BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. – Raymond Medlin, 76, and his wife Joan’s four wheeler was stolen from right outside their front door. Raymond said the eleven days without his four wheeler were the worst days he can remember. “I cried…it was awful miserable I thought the world had just let me down,” he said. Medlin who uses the ATV to keep up his property suffered a fall trying to get around without it. He says the fall confined him to his home for fear he may get hurt again. “I guess I nearly passed out,” Medlin said of the fall. The theft of the Medlin’s four wheeler is just one of many in Benton County that law enforcement has been investigating for nearly six months. “Most of them are actually real close to houses and really in some neighborhoods you wouldn’t suspect somebody stealing stuff,” Sheriff Tony King said. A tip led deputies to a home where many of the stolen four wheelers were parked. Sheriff King said the suspects could face a slew of felony charges. “I think it depends on the message the court system wants to send. If they punish them severely enough I hope it sends a message to the ones who think about it in the future,” Sheriff King said. Medlin hoped for the same outcome for the criminals. “Let justice takes it way. I’m gonna try not to hold it against them.” Sheriff King said hopefully the suspects will be charged in the next couple days solving the months long investigation.
