Snow Plows Keep Jackson Roads Clear
City workers make getting around town easy
JACKSON, Tenn.-Thanks to clear streets, students spent their Friday playing in the snow.
With anticipation of several inches of snow falling in the city, crews with the Jackson Street Department started their day at 5 a.m.
“The streets are looking pretty good,” said Johnny Weddle City of Jackson Street Department supervisor. “It’s in a situation now where we can control it.”
Folks driving around Jackson Friday said getting around was not an issue. Making it much easier for fun-seekers to drive around and find steep hills to slide down.
“We had absolute no problems,” said Union University student Laura Villafor. “There wasn’t any ice not even a lot of slush as we were coming through, even over the bypass, it wasn’t slick at all.”
“Oh the roads are fine,” said Cassandra Parker. “They’re not slippery at all. We actually just came to get something to eat, so the roads are fine for traveling.”
“They did a great job,” said Villafor. “Yeah, I’m really grateful for them so we can come out and have some fun today.”
Even though roads are clear, drivers should watch out for ice late Friday night.
“If you got to get out be careful,”said Weddle. “When the temperature starts dropping again because that’s when we get a lot of black ice, so just be careful out there tonight.”
With temperatures expected to drop Friday night, salt trucks and plows will hit the streets again.
“We’ll be out all night as long as we need to be out,”said Weddle.
