Snow is finally melting in Trenton
Kids in trenton pray snow closes school Monday
JACKSON, Tenn. — According to Gibson County officials, about four inches of snow fell in Trenton, causing schools and businesses to close.
“It got so bad that I live about a fourth of the mile out of town. I could not get into work,” said flower shop owner Jewell Hardaway.
“Sure glad it’s melted,” Frank Langston said. “Sure glad it’s gone. I like snow but I like it to be gone in about two hours.”
On Sunday morning, some people were moving around town for the first time.
“I can actually go somewhere now,” William Chamberlin said. “So I kind of enjoy that part.”
“I haven’t really been out of the house except for this morning,” Candy Churchwell said. “I had to dig myself out of the driveway in heels.”
“I’m glad it’s gone and we were able to get out and get to church,” Langston said.
Some parts of Trenton are still under a blanket of snow, and snow piles still remain in parking lot. Although the snow is disappearing, students in the area have mixed emotions about going to school on Monday.
“Honestly, I don’t like the snow and I want to go back to school for cheer and games and stuff,” Alexus Duncan said.
“I’m hoping that we won’t go back tomorrow as well because the roads aren’t the best conditions,” Peyton Adams said. “They need to not let us go just as a safety precaution.”
Some kids may not want to return to school, but their parents are looking forward to it.
“I don’t know about the back roads, but hopefully they’ll be back in school,” Susan Malone said. “They’re not too excited, but that will be OK for me.”
