Time has come for employers to give out W-2 forms

JACKSON, Tenn. — This is an important week for those who will be filing their 2015 taxes.

tax-image.jpgTax preparers say businesses have until Jan. 31 to get W-2 forms out to employees.

The IRS started accepting tax returns last week, but businesses say it’s important not to file too early.

That means all forms need to be gathered at once before submitting to the IRS.

“If you’re filing your taxes, you’re going to want all your W-2s, tour 1099s, all the information required to be filed. You don’t want to jump the gun and file too early,” said Vickie McCann of Jackson Hewitt Tax Service.

Experts also say to get a quicker refund, make sure health insurance forms are reported on the tax return.

The last day to file this year is April 18.
