2 women arrested, accused in 2014 Sampson County homicide
CLINTON, N.C. (AP) – Sampson County sheriff’s deputies say they have arrested two women in connection with a homicide that occurred almost two years ago and went unreported.
The sheriff’s office said investigators were notified on Jan. 12 that 24-year-old Danielle Alicia Chance was shot after an altercation on Feb. 16, 2014, and that the suspects tried to cover it up.
A search turned up human remains, and investigators tracked 37-year-old Felicia Barnes to Jefferson City, Tennessee, and an interview led investigators to more human remains.
Authorities said Barnes, whose address was listed as Jefferson City, is charged with murder, and 24-year-old Betty West of Angier is charged with accessory to murder.
Barnes is awaiting extradition to North Carolina, while West is in the Sampson County jail under a $200,000 bond.
