Kids throw pies at teachers after reaching goal to help homeless

JACKSON, Tenn. — Pies were flying in a school playground Thursday, all for a good cause.

Around 80 students were able to throw whip cream pies in their teachers’ faces Thursday afternoon after exceeding their goal to make care packages for the homeless in Jackson.

Students Pie TeachersTeachers say the original goal was to pack 50 bags but that they finished the week with 147 bags.

“The kids did so good in understanding what it means to be homeless and how it would feel to them and helping other people, and the parents are so great to help make the bags and I think they just did a great job, and we wanted to reward them in a little way by having fun,” Bemis Montessori teacher Chelsea Bergeron said.

The bags were donated to JACOA for their Project for People program.
