St. Mary’s students honor deceased classmate with Math-A-Thon for St. Jude

JACKSON, Tenn. — Students at St. Mary’s Catholic School solved math problems Friday for a good cause. The school hosted a Math-A-Thon in memory of James Forrest Kellar, a former St. Mary’s student.

The school said they are raising money in honor of Kellar, who received care at St. Jude.

“I feel that the children have the spirit of it,” Joann Wormer, a teacher, said. “They are just excited to be here, and I think they’re excited about working on their problems.”

Wormer said they hope to raise about $5,000.
