Congressman Stephen Fincher announces he will not seek re-election
JACKSON, Tenn. — After serving three terms, Congressman Stephen Fincher announced Monday that he will not run for re-election this year.
Fincher, a Republican from Frog Jump in Crockett County, has represented the state’s 8th Congressional District since 2011, having been re-elected in 2012 and 2014.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the people of West Tennessee, but I never intended to become a career politician,” Fincher states in a release. “The last six years have been the opportunity of a lifetime, and I am honored to have been given the chance to serve.”
Fincher goes on to say he will return to his home of Frog Jump.
“I will be returning to Frog Jump and my family and business, but intend to stay involved to the extent I can. I want to thank every citizen of the 8th District for the privilege of serving.”
