Union’s Edge program kicks off a new semester
JACKSON, Tenn. — A special get-together for the Edge program at Union University helped kick off the second semester of the program.
Edge students, along with their mentors and parents made their way out to Union’s basketball games Saturday afternoon.
The 2-year program helps integrate special needs students into the college environment and eventually into the workforce. Parents said the students being able to be a part of activities like this helps enhance their college experience.
“I just think it’s so important for each student to find their place and to be plugged into something where they’re in a community and they’re just experiencing life as every other student here,” said parent Carla Wilson.
The Edge program is in its inaugural year at Union with eight students, and will expand to sixteen next year.
