Jackson artists host Love Pop-Up Shop
JACKSON, Tenn. — With only one week left before Valentine’s Day, folks in Jackson are taking advantage of the opportunity to shop local, hoping to find the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
The last weekend before stores sell out of roses, the Love Pop-Up Shop was open for business at the Neely House downtown.
“Everything is handmade and most of it is locally made as well,” said Pop Up Shop Organizer Lisa Garner. “So completely different than a Walmart experience.”
Valentines Day is right around the corner so the pop-up shop was beneficial for those last minute shoppers.
“I’m hoping to leave here with a Valentines Day gift,” said Ross Priddy. My wife’s here so I’ve gotta kind of hide from her and sneak it but think I can do it.”
“I’m trying to find something for my friends for Valentines day because we’ve been friends forever,” said Kaitlyn West. “Something that is meaningful to me.”
Shoppers say it is the unique gift and the artist they are supporting that will keep them away from the department stores.
“If there’s any opportunity to support local entrepreneurs,” said Dayton Brown. “I’m more than willing to come and support local.”
“I like hand made stuff that is good quality,” Priddy said. “So we want to support local artist that are making things here in our community.”
Pop-Up shop organizer Lisa Garner said folks enjoy seeing the items the shop has to offer, so she will continue to pop up around Jackson.
“A lot of times people come to the shop and they’re just kind of looking,” Garner said. “And they grab stuff for themselves and they’re like ‘this is my gift to myself for Valentines Day’, which is great. Everyone seems to love them, so I’ll keep planning them.”
If you didn’t make it to the Love Pop-Up shop this weekend, another shop will pop up just in time for Mother’s Day.
