Murder Victim’s Family Pleads for Answers

JACKSON Tenn.- Jackson Police said they still need more witnesses who saw the double murder of two Jackson men early Sunday morning. Rachel Ruffin, the mother of Brian Banes’ daughter, said she was at the private college graduation party when she heard the gunfire that killed Banes. “By the time I got out there I saw a few men running,” said Ruffin. “Just a whole bunch of chaos.” Ruffin claimed Banes was hit nine times, and the other victim Delandis Clark was shot more than 17 times. “It was very violent. I’ve never heard of someone being shot that many times,” said Ruffin. Banes sister Latosha Green, told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News her brother was a good person, and cannot understand why her brother was gunned down. “Why shoot my brother like that,” said Green. “My little brother, he didn’t deserve that. Banes family believed several people saw or have heard who shot them, but are scared to give police the information. “Everybody knows who did it, everybody,” said Banes. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department at (731) 425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at (731) 424-8477.
