South Jackson fire damages home, cars

JACKSON, Tenn.-A fire rips through a home in south Jackson late Friday night, injuring a Jackson firefighter.
Officials said the fire started around 9 p.m. at a home in the 60 block South Side Drive.

The fire started in the carport, which eventually collapsed and set three cars on fire.
Although the fire did spread into the home, everyone inside was able to make it out safely.

“They got out, got their pets out so no one was hurt in there. We did have one firefighter received some burns on his hands and he’s being treated by EMS,” said Battalion Chief Johnny Brantley

Fire officials said it is still early to determine what may have caused the fire, but an investigator was on scene Friday night to look through the debris.
