Local florists recover after busy Valentine’s weekend

McNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — Flower shops across West Tennessee were recovering Monday from a busy Valentine’s weekend.

Valentines recap screenshotShop owners say the holiday was a little easier this year because some chose to celebrate Friday while others chose Sunday.

WBBJ spoke with one local shop owner who says she gave her staff President’s Day off to rest after being open for the entire weekend.

Sorting through what’s left of teddy bears and flowers, Tammy Howell, owner of Floral Connections in Selmer, says it’s a rewarding time.

“Some people even volunteer,” Howell said. “They ask me to work, especially our delivery people. They love to see the smiles on people’s faces as they receive their gifts.”

With the hearts coming down, shop owners say it’s time for Easter decorations and preparing for weddings.
