Police say tip led to motel meth lab bust
NORTH JACKSON — Officers have released new details about a meth lab that shut down a north Jackson motel Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators with Metro Narcotics say a tip led officers to a particular motel room at the Scottish Inns on North Highland Avenue.
The discovery forced an evacuation and hours of investigation including bringing out the bomb squad at one point.
The two people taken into custody have yet to be named, but officers say what they were doing put a lot of people in danger.
“There’s nothing safe about a meth lab,” Lt. Chris Long with Metro Narcotics said. “Stationary labs aren’t any safer than mobile meth labs — no such thing as a safe meth lab.”
Long says if you spot a meth lab or components you think were used to make meth to not touch anything and call police.
