Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam updating his patrol fleet
BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) – The Hancock County Board of Supervisors is following a recent grand jury’s recommendation that the county sheriff’s office replace its aging fleet of patrol vehicles.
On Tuesday, The Sun Herald reports supervisors authorized the sheriff’s office to buy five used patrol cars, piggybacking on a January measure that approved the purchase of six new vehicles.
Board President Blaine Lafontaine said the 11 vehicles will cost about $150,000 total, which will be paid through the sheriff’s allotted gaming fund.
Sheriff Ricky Adam said most of his patrol vehicles have high mileage and are about 10 years old.
