Saturday is last day for weekend early voting
Early voting ends Tuesday, Feb. 23
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — A steady stream of voters took advantage Friday afternoon of the opportunity to vote early in the Presidential Preference Primary, and Saturday marks the last day to vote on a weekend.
“It’s convenient for me to get on out here and get it done,” voter Patty Brown said.
“I’m really excited about the presidential election,” voter Cindy Boyles said. “I’m off work right now so this is a really good time to get here before there’s a big crowd.”
With long ballots and unpredictable winter weather in Tennessee, officials recommend people come to the polls before the Super Tuesday election day in March.
“You know, none of us know what we really will be doing on Tuesday, March 1,” Madison County Administrator of Elections Kim Buckley said. “So it’s just a good opportunity to go on and take care of that now.”
Although hundreds in Madison County already have cast their ballots, after Saturday only two days remain to vote early in the presidential primary election.
Early voting ends Tuesday Feb. 23, so if you haven’t voted by then you will have to wait until Election Day on Tuesday, March 1.
“I wanted to vote today to make sure I got my vote cast in case I couldn’t vote on election day,” voter Jerry Barrix said. “If you’re not happy with the way things are going, you need to vote for change.”
“Now’s the time to do it so you don’t have to stand in line,” Boyles said. “You can check one box off your civic duty. You’ve done it.”
The polls in Madison County will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week.
