Weather Update: 4:00 AM Saturday
Scattered, light rain is making its way through some of the southern portions of the area, mainly along the Mississippi/Tennessee boarder this morning. Scattered showers are likely to continue off and on this morning. We might get a little bit of a lull in the showers this afternoon before more rain returns later on tonight. If you’ve stepped outside this morning or opened the door for the pets, you would feel it’s still quite warm across the area. Temperatures this afternoon are expecting to reach back into the 60s.
Tonight, with the clouds sticking around, temperatures won’t drop too much. Overnight lows are looking to fall into the upper 50s to low 60s. Similar to what we had last night. Even with the chance for rain overnight tonight, temperatures stay mild out ahead of the cold front.
Temperatures will continue to stay unseasonably warm all weekend. Sunday afternoon highs will also reach back into the mid 60s. A cold front is slowly going to be pushing through West Tennessee by Sunday night and this will drop our temperatures back to seasonal for this time of year by Monday.
Sunday, showers are looking to continue for most of the day. Thunderstorms are also likely but it’s looking unlikely that any of them become severe. The frontal system is appearing to be too weak to produce enough energy to fuel severe weather. But, rainfall totals by the end of the weekend could be around 0.5″ and localized areas getting higher amounts within any thunderstorms.
The chance for showers lingers for the first half of the week. Monday and Tuesday are not looking to be wash-out days but a few passing rain showers are possible. By Wednesday another system will make its way into the region and this will bring another chance for widespread rain activity.
Temperatures behind the midweek system will be much cooler. Thursday morning temps are looking to be back around the freezing mark.
