Andrew Peterson performs in benefit concert for STAR Center

JACKSON, Tenn — Christian artist Andrew Peterson performed at Fellowship Bible Church as part of a fundraiser for the STAR Center Saturday night.

Peterson, who also is a writer, said being able to help raise funds to improve the reading skills of kids in the Hub City brings a little more meaning to performing.

STAR Center Benefit“I think that art tells us that we’re not alone and so if somebody can come tonight and believe that maybe they’re not alone, then I’m happy,” Peterson explained before the performance.

Pairing the STAR Center with Peterson’s interest was something organizers said makes sense.

“We found an artist that’s in with the mission, who also writes children’s books, and so clearly it was a good mission fit for him and also for us,” President of the STAR Center, Dave Bratcher said.

Proceeds from the night’s event went to help fund the STAR Center’s “Literacy Lab”, which helps children reading below grade level improve their reading skills.
