Man arrested in hit-and-run death in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Police say a man has been arrested on charges in the hit-and-run death of a woman in Memphis.

Shelby County Jail records show 49-year-old Walter Williams was being held Sunday on charges that include vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, public intoxication and leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

Williams was behind the wheel when police arrived Saturday. Police say 24-year-old Clarissa Rhodes was pronounced dead at the scene.
