Weather Update – 10:00 p.m. Monday

We don’t have much rain lingering in West Tennessee at this hour. A few showers were falling a little while ago but it’s quickly becoming drier in West Tennessee on this Monday evening. More rain is farther to our southwest over Texas with the next oncoming system.

The chance for rain will increase in West Tennessee throughout the day tomorrow with most of the region under scattered to widespread showers by dinner-time Tuesday. Tomorrow night, we could see one or two thunderstorms but the risk for severe weather is low. When all is said and done with the storms cold air will blow in with sustained wind speeds between 10 and 20 miles per hour. While it’s possible that the rain could briefly change to snow in northwest Tennessee it’s probably not going to stick after the warm weekend we had!

Most of West Tennessee is likely looking at 1″-2″ of rain falling from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening. Some areas, especially those near the Tennessee River, could get less than one inch.

Drier weather is expected from Thursday through the rest of the week with clearer skies back by the weekend but Thursday will be chilly with highs in the middle 40s and temperatures starting out near the freezing mark at sunrise. Another chance for rain is forecast for early next week.
