Police investigate school bus crash in Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Humboldt police say they’re investigating an early morning school bus crash.

bus-crash4.jpgThey say it happened around 7:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of  17th Avenue and Mitchell Street.

Authorities say 28 children were on the bus at the time of the accident and that no injuries were reported. The students ranged from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Police say the wreck occurred as the bus was traveling on 17th Avenue and about to cross Mitchell Street. A 2003 GMC Envoy was on Mitchell preparing to turn when the two vehicles collided.

The bus reportedly sustained minor damage, and the Envoy was moderately damaged, according to police.

The driver of the Envoy was arrested for having a revoked license, according to police, and also reportedly did not have insurance.

Police did not issue a citation for the bus driver.
