Local troops gear up for National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend
JACKSON, Tenn. — Local girl scouts are gearing up for a big weekend.
National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend kicked off Friday. Organizers say the famous cookie-selling program provides life skills including money management and people skills. The proceeds go to the local troops and council.
“This gives the troops the opportunity to fulfill their goals, such as trips or activities they want to participate in, and this is one of the ways that they can earn money to do so,” said Debra Martin, volunteer support specialist with Girl Scouts Heart of the South.
The local council hopes to sell 1.25 million boxes of cookies this year.
