3rd Annual Memorial Run honors Charlie Reagan
MILAN, Tenn. — Saturday more than a hundred runners hit the streets of Milan in honor of one of their own. A local businessman, Charlie Reagan, was murdered six years ago, but still inspires many today.
“He was an inspiration to a lot of us running, he was always on board while helping with the athletic teams he also showed up at band competitions with the flag,” memorial; run director Judi Sherwood said.
Police say Reagan was working at his car shop when a robber fatally stabbed him.
Johnny Reagan is Charlie’s younger brother, and started running because of Charlie.
“His goal for me was to always be first and the last race me and him raced together he held my hand across the finish line,” Johnny said.
Charlie’s nephew Steven Reagan said he started running after his uncle passed away.
“He was always trying to make me run for him I never would run and I would make fun of him for running the day he got murdered I made an obligation in his honor and his memory and I started running and I never looked back,” Steven said.
Many people at the memorial run said they started running because of Charlie, who was an avid runner. They come back every year to keep his memory alive.
“I just try to come back and thank him for the life the he gave many people around here,” Johnny said.
This was the third year for the memorial run, and they raised around $1,300 for the Milan High School Band.
