Weather Update: 8:45 PM Sunday

It has been a breezy afternoon across the area! Winds have been sustained 15-25 mph throughout the day and gusts, in some locations, exceeding 30 mph. Winds tonight will start to weaken and a weak cold front will push through West Tennessee. Scattered rain has started to make its way through West Tennessee. Temperatures won’t be too affected by this front, again it’s going to be weak.

This week we will be riding a roller coaster of high and low pressure systems sweeping through the region. This will bring off and on days of rain throughout the entire 7-Day forecast.

Tonight we are going to expect clouds to continue to build into West Tennessee bringing a slight chance, again, for some scattered showers. Showers will continue to push through as we head to bed but by morning West Tennessee should be rain-free. Temps tonight will bottom out in the low to mid 40s. So it’ll be a mild evening ahead.

Tomorrow, to start the week, we are looking at another warm day with afternoon temps returning to the mid 60s. The clouds could lingering giving us a party cloudy day but a rain free day. Monday low temps are looking to fall into the upper 40s to low 50s with the clouds continuing to increase throughout the evening.

By Tuesday we are looking at a strong frontal system pushing into West Tennessee bringing the chance for widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms. Right now, we are under a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe activity. We could see some strong thunderstorms with gusty winds and maybe small hail. The rain should come to an end overnight going into Wednesday. As temperature fall into the 30s Tuesday night, an overnight flurry may be possible but it won’t amount to much more than that.

We get a break for Wednesday but by Thursday another system bringing rain returns.. This pattern is expecting to take us into the weekend.
