Lane College Coach Proud of Jacoby Jones Dancing Skills

JACKSON, Tenn. – Lane College head football coach Derrick Burroughs said the moves Jacoby Jones performs on “Dancing With the Stars” he picked up right here in West Tennessee. “You see a lot of football players going through bag drills and rope drills. It really kind of emulates what they’re doing on dancing with the stars,” he said. According to Burroughs, Jacoby’s quick feet, strength and agility are what make him as successful on the football field as on the dance floor. “Just as he excels on the football field, he’s gonna make sure he excels on the dance floor,” Burroughs said. Lane quarterback Chris Nini said he can see Jacoby’s football talents coming out on the dance floor. “Jacoby being a wide receiver and kick return he has to have those skills to move on the field and it makes it easier to move and dance like that on TV,” he said. Burroughs said an athlete like Jacoby can be successful in any sport. Even one like dancing that involves spandex and sequins. “A lot of NFL teams have incorporated yoga or dance in their curriculum,” he said. For Lane College, Jacoby is a reminder that with hard work, dedication and a little rhythm anything can be possible. At least that is what Quarterback Chris Nini believes. “When I was little I always watched guys like that, and to know he came from the same school that I am going to and am playing football for is refreshing,” he said. Burroughs said what Jacoby has done for the college is immeasurable. “He’s just out there dancing and he thinks it’s just about dancing but its really so much bigger than him,” he said. Jacoby survived the Tuesday night elimination and will continue fighting for the mirror ball trophy next week.
