State’s ‘LEAP’ initiative works to build marketable skills in students

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Tennessee Labor Education Alignment Program, or LEAP, is showcasing its successes at sites across the state.

LEAP to SuccessEducation and employer sites throughout the twelve “LEAP” site areas, including in Jackson, held events Monday, on “Leap Day,” to demonstrate the skills students are learning through the program.

The Jackson Regional Partnership hosted an event at Jackson State Community College to highlight the work being done locally.

“Having the equipment in place will help us reach more students, help to fill that workplace pipeline that is needed for the demands of industry in the future,” said Vicki Bunch, director of the LEAP program of the Jackson Regional Partnership.

Some of the funds were used for training equipment and to renovate space for all Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology in the Jackson region.
