Union’s Brock, Montgomery named GSC All-Conference
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Union University men’s basketball senior’s Marterrace Brock and Jordan Montgomery were both named to the 2016 Gulf South Conference All-Conference team.
Brock was voted to the first team, while Montgomery was named a second team all-conference performer.
Brock, a 6-foot-4 guard from Memphis, Tenn., leads Union in scoring with 20.3 points per game. He passed the 1,000 career points mark earlier this season after just two years with the Bulldogs.
This season, he is averaging 4.5 rebounds per game, 2.2 assists per game and 1.7 steals per game. Brock has made 25 three pointers this season and led Union with 140 made free throws.
Brock was named a preseason member of the GSC All-Conference team as well. He was also named GSC and TSWA Player of the Week one time each this season.
Montgomery, a 6-foot-6 guard from Orlando, Fla., is second on the Union with 12.8 points per game. He leads Union with 65 made 3-pointers and is shooting a team best .419 from long range.
Montgomery averages 6.2 rebounds per game, 1.4 steals and one assist per game and has started all 28 games for Union.
Union opens the GSC Tournament Tuesday night at home as the No. 3 seed hosting No. 6 seeded Valdosta State (Ga.) at 8:00 p.m.
