Water Contest Pits Utility Companies Against Each Other

JACKSON, Tenn.- You may have probably heard of wine tastings, but what about water tastings. That is exactly happened today here in Jackson. Wednesday morning, Jackson Energy Authority hosted the area competition for The Best Tasting Water in Tennessee contest. The panel of four judges tried 10 different samples, judging them on some of the same characteristics wine connoisseurs look for. “We judge on first of all clarity, how clear the water is, bouquet which is smell. If there’s any chlorine, for example or if it smells good and clear and finally on taste,” said Bob Freudenthal, with the Tennessee Association of Utilities Districts The winner was Poplar Grove Utility District in Atoka. It will now go on to the state competition.
