Voters cast ballots for chance in Madison County

JACKSON, Tenn. — West Tennessee voters came out in record numbers Tuesday to make their voices heard. In Madison County, Donald Trump won the vote of most Republicans but by only about 4 percent.

Here’s the results:

Carson 9%
Cruz 30%
Kasich 4%
Rubio 21%
Trump 34%

While democrats chose to lock in Hillary Clinton by a resounding margin over Bernie Sanders.

Clinton 81%
Sanders 19%

Polling locations were busy from open to close all across Jackson. Workers said this is the busiest primary they have ever seen. Most of the voters said they came out because this primary matters more than ever before.

“I believe that if I don’t vote then I chose not to make a difference,” voter Susan Etheridge said.

Voters filled precincts hoping their Super Tuesday vote will change our country’s future.

“Our county is headed in the wrong direction,” voter Carla Delgiorno said. “We need to elect officials who will do what we the people want.”

Republicans and Democrats alike made their voices heard. Like Jackson Clouse, whose vote put Donald Trump on top in Tennessee.

“The whole not being political thing and the fact that he’s not having to answer to anyone, that’s why I voted for him,” Clouse said.

Ted Cruz also had good numbers in the Volunteer State, his message resonating well with Jackson voters.

“He is a constitutionalist,” Delgiorno said. “He knows how to argue with valid points and not just throw redirect around.”

On the Democrat side, Hillary Clinton took Tennessee pushing way ahead of Bernie Sanders.

“She’s been in politics all her life,” Clinton supporter Kathie Fuller said. “Who would be better than someone who’s been there and knows what it’s about.”
