Rain Arriving Thursday Morning

Weather Update – 10:00 p.m. Wednesday

Showers and thunderstorms are currently developing to our west out across Oklahoma under the influence of an area of low pressure. That low pressure system will continue to develop and push east overnight, eventually arriving in West Tennessee early Thursday morning with rain likely for much of the morning and afternoon.

TONIGHT
Temperatures will remain steady if not dropping only a little farther into the upper 30s and low to middle 40s. Skies are cloudy over much of West Tennessee now, but we may see a few light and scattered showers overnight.

THURSDAY
Widespread rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected for most of the morning and afternoon. Pockets of heavy rain are expected to add some delays to the morning commute so give yourself some extra time on the drive in the morning. Thunderstorms may even end up producing some small hail and some gusty winds in southwest Tennessee and northern Mississippi. Temperatures will only warm up to the upper 40s and low to middle 50s during the afternoon.

THIS WEEKEND
We’re expecting Friday to still be a cool day with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Warmer weather will arrive on Saturday and Sunday with temperatures warming up to the low and middle 60s at the warmest point of the day. A cold front will push through on Saturday night but right now the chance for rain is less than 10% so we’re still expecting a mainly dry weekend.

NEXT WEEK
Temperatures will continue to warm up with upper 60s to low 70s possible from Monday through Wednesday. Wet and windy conditions are expected with a chance for showers and thunderstorms – especially on Tuesday and Wednesday.
