MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.- Doctors at Youth Town said teen meth use is on the rise, and the number of kids they see addicted to the drug is growing at an alarming rate. Medical Director, Dr. Neil Bomar says 10 percent of kids at Youth Town have used or are addicted to meth. “In the past it was nearly unheard of to see a young person 14 or 15 that’s used methamphetamine,” said Dr. Bomar. Mark Bradley is a 16-year-old who told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News he experienced teen meth addiction first hand. “I was not doing school work at all. I would go to school high,” said Bradley. Bradley is now 100 days sober, but said it is scary how many kids at his school used meth, “About 25 percent of the kids did, and most of them were 9th and 10th graders.’ Dr. Bomar said many teens learn to make and use meth in their own homes, “When they’re using it, many times his parents or a family member uses it.” Bradley said he hoped teens who are addicted will get help, and get sober.
