Several campaigns launch to encourage spring fitness

JACKSON, Tenn.,– Several campaigns launch to encourage spring fitness.

Starting March 5th, participating Tennessee State Parks will host a two-month weight loss competition called the Healthy Parks, Healthy Person Fitness Challenge.

According to information on the Chickasaw State Park’s Facebook page, participants will do a starting weigh in at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5th.

In order to compete individuals will have to post a photo at least once a week showing how they use the state park to exercise to the groups Facebook page.

A mid-way weigh in will take place on April 2nd.

The winner will be determined at a final weigh in May 7th. The winner of the competition will be the person with the highest percentage of body fat loss since day one.

The park said the winner will be awarded a certificate for two free nights in their choice of cabin or inn at any particpating park.

Walk Across Tennessee registration is now open in Madison county.

The multi-week competition encourages residents to walk the distance of the Volunteer state, about 500 miles.

 

According to an email release for the initiative, the program is open to teams of walkers, runners and individual participants this year.

Walk Across Tennesses is scheduled to run between April 11 and May 22.
