Bill would allow vote regarding alcohol in several counties
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Do you live in Henry, Benton or Hardeman counties and want to change your city’s laws regarding alcohol? You may soon get to cast a vote on the matter.

Tuesday, in the Tennessee House, legislators passed a bill that would allow cities in Henry, Benton, Hardeman, Lewis and Grainger counties to hold a vote regarding alcohol sale and possession.
“House Bill 44 authorizes the City of McEwen and Humphreys County, and cities in Henry, Benton, Lewis, Grainger and Hardeman counties to hold a local option election to permit the manufacture, receipt, sale, storage, transportation, distribution, and possession of alcoholic beverages within the territorial limits of a city by a majority vote,” said Rep. Jay Reedy.
The bill passed 88 to 6. It will now go to the Senate.
