53rd annual “Freedom Fund” banquet announced

JACKSON, Tenn.-Leaders with the Jackson-Madison County branch of the NAACP lay out plans for their annual banquet, honoring another year of work in the Hub City.

Civil rights attorney Barbara Arnwine will speak at the 53rd annual “Freedom Fund” banquet.
This year’s theme is “Pursuing liberty in the face of injustice.”

“It gives us the opportunity and resources to address a lot of these issues with training and community meetings and gatherings with people who have the information we seek,” said Harrell Carter, president of the Jackson-Madison County branch of the NAACP.

The “Freedom Fund” banquet is scheduled for Sunday, May 29, starting at 5 p.m. at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.
